Wild and Domestic Horses Let Loose in a Pyramid

The kernel for this painting began with the emotional draw between the mother and calf in the Egyptian Hieroglyphic. Usually we think of Egyptian art as quite static and formal, however their treatment of animals, and on rare occasion's people can really be quite emotionally charged. I initially connected with the cow and calf in a serious way 15 years earlier when I did my first painting with an Egyptian theme "My Dog Lollypop" featuring our then pet, Bogey, who was a Pharaoh Hound. At that time I had tried to incorporate the cows into a work of art, but with no success. This painting evolved only after a very long fermentation process, and I have the horses to thank for being the catalyst that brought it all together.

P.S. Egyptian Hieroglyphs, which are phonetically based, have been transcribed to correspond with our alphabet. The captions I have written contain humor, as well as pearls of wisdom.
